Organizational Setting

UTF/BRA/089/BRA
The project objective is to contribute to the national processes of strengthening family farmers in Brazil for poverty reduction and rural revitalization. The outcome is to implement differentiated policies and programs that improve the capacities of the national government, local and family farmers in areas such as ATER (rural extension and technical advisory services), Credit Programs, land access and governance, access to markets and the strengthening of cooperativism.


Reporting Lines

The incumbent reports to the Assistant Representative in FAO Brazil – Programme.


Technical Focus

To provide technical support to the Department of Innovation for Family Production and Agroecological Transition – DINOV/SAF/MDA in the context of the construction of agroecological knowledge, focusing on the systematization and analysis of the actions of Planapo, CIAPO and experiences of agroecological food production in agrarian reform settlements, in the various Brazilian regions.


Tasks and Responsibilities

• Survey the actions developed by the ministries and bodies that make up the Interministerial Chamber of Agroecology and Organic Production – CIAPO;
• Participate in meetings whenever requested or when needed to deepen specific issues related to Agroecology;
• Contribute to the construction of strategies and methodologies to expand the reach of public policies for agroecological transition and affirmation of the role of family/peasant agriculture in the production of healthy food;
• Develop technical and analytical content on Agroecology, when requested by DINOV/SAF/MDA;
• Make visits to teaching, research, and extension centers, and to units of family farmers or groups of farmers;
• Collect and systematize data on the actions developed by the National Plan for Agroecology and Organic Production;
• Participate in seminars, workshops, meetings and gatherings on topics related to family farming, agroecology and agroecological transition;
• Dialogue with entities representing family farming and social movements;
• Analyze, systematize and prepare documents of programs, projects and actions of Agroecology, developed by DINOV/SAF/MDA or in partnership with government and civil society agencies;
• Monitor the progress of Bills in the National Congress and government programs related to the theme of agroecology.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Agrarian Sciences, according to the CAPES/CNPq table of areas of knowledge.
• Minimum experience of 08 (eight) years in public policies aimed at Agroecology and agroecological transition and in the National Policy on Agroecology and Organic Production.
• Working knowledge (level C) of Portuguese and English or Spanish.
• Brazilian nationality or resident of the country with valid work permit.
