Purpose of the position

 

The Digital Engagement & AV Associate works in the Cross Media Unit, which leads our ICRC communication delivering global campaigns and tell compelling stories to ICRC’s key audiences about our mission and the people we serve across all platforms and channels.

 

Our digital channels are used to enable our operations, to influence decisions, and to mobilize support for the ICRC. This includes interactions with affected and non-affected communities across various digital touchpoints: social media, web emailing.

 

The Associate works with the Digital teams to deliver audience-centric content for social-media (video, cards, carousels) and to support our AV and Media. The Associate leads various administrative tasks including management of Media requests and news releases 1 day per week.

Main duties and responsibilities

 

The Digital Engagement & AV Associate reports directly to the Digital Communications / Social Media Manager, with the Creative Content Manager as a functional manager working transversally across both areas of expertise. They work with and receive trainings from relevant staff members in the following domains:


Video & Digital Content Production (50%)

  • Edits and creates video content for social and traditional media, including language versioning. 
  • Supports social media daily posts for the ICRC channels (including X, Instagram, Youtube) including the design of sliders, carousels. 
  • Ensures relevant adaption to each platform, as well as best practices for accessibility and inclusion (voice over, accessible language). 
  • Supports other daily social media: community engagement, listening, publishing posts, performance reporting, etc., as needed. 

 

AV & Studio Support (30%) 

  • Acts as a production assistant for the TV Studio Manager.
  • Assists in filming and editing interviews in Geneva.
  • Manages camera and MOJO equipment inventory for the team and responds to ad-hoc requests for material.
  • Creates additional AV content as needed for campaigns, in collaboration with the Creative Content Manager.

 

Admin & Management of the Media Inquiries (20%)

  • Supports as the lead for Media Inquiries and for new release publishing 1 day per week.
  • Leads on the weekly Monday Editorial Meeting minutes.

Skills and qualifications

 

  • Relevant undergraduate qualifications in journalism, communications, or similar.
  • Solid understanding of social media and a deep interest in keeping up to date with developments in the digital space.
  • Must have a maximum of one-year relevant work experience (on a paid contract) following your last degree or two years if previous traineeships are included.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal in English. French an asset.
  • Experience with Final Cut Pro X and/or Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Proficient and enthusiastic about social media and a user of multiple platforms.
  • Interested in media relations.
  • Efficiently balances multiple projects and the ability to deliver under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to operate in a global environment and effectively navigate cross-cultural differences.
