About AIIB

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is a multilateral development bank whose mission is financing the Infrastructure for Tomorrow—infrastructure with sustainability at its core. We began operations in Beijing in January 2016 and have since grown to 109 approved members worldwide. We are capitalized at USD100 billion and AAA rated by the major international credit rating agencies. Collaborating with partners, AIIB meets clients’ needs by unlocking new capital and investing in infrastructure that is green, technology-enabled and promotes regional connectivity.

The mission and vision of AIIB’s Communications Department (COM) is to build stakeholder trust by creating breakthrough communications that show how AIIB empowers people through infrastructure. COM helps AIIB effectively tell its story. Whether it’s official communications for use by and within the Bank, or processing institutional documents, or communicating with staff, or informing external audiences about what we do and why we do it—we provide strategic advice and support on how to craft messages, get media coverage, share on social media and build awareness with our internal and external stakeholders.

The Editor will ensure that AIIB’s documents are of the highest quality and are consistent with AIIB’s Style Guide. They will help the Communications Department maintain the quality and consistency of Board documents, project proposals, news releases, feature articles, and other institutional documents, as assigned. This position will report to the Communications Department.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Edit, write, conceptualize or research AIIB documents as needed in collaboration with subject matter experts across AIIB. Documents to be processed range from Board papers to project proposals to news releases to feature articles and other institutional documents, as assigned.
  • Ensure documents are written and edited in American English (AP style) and adhere to AIIB’s Editorial Style Guide, the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the official AIIB Member nomenclature and other relevant AIIB guidelines.
  • Flag to document owners and/or subject matter experts potentially sensitive content and other matters in their documents (revise or correct them based on AIIB-specific narrative, nomenclature, policies, guidance or messaging needed).
  • Ensure documents are professionally composed and have a logical flow/construction.
  • If needed, fact-check document contents with the help of authors and departmental data owners.
  • Return tracked documents with clear comments on why specific changes were made, to point out errors and ensure those errors are not repeated (and so that the organization and the document owners learn from previous errors).

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent. In lieu of an MA, consistent employment or other work in an editorial capacity would be considered.
  • At least 5-8 years’ experience with solid track record of quality writing and editing for large organizations.
  • Previous writing or editing work for/on multilateral organizations, large corporations, institutional papers, development projects or Board documents would be an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, information processing and review strategic skills.
  • Defined sense of responsibility, accountability and confidentiality is required.
  • Ability to work in a high pressure environment with simultaneous tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral.
  • Excellent drafting skills with the ability to edit and clear written work products.
