Mission and objectives

The fundamental mission of UNICEF is to promote the rights of every child, everywhere, in everything the organization does — in programmes, advocacy and operations. The equity strategy, emphasizing the most disadvantaged and excluded children and families, translates this commitment to children’s rights into action. For UNICEF, equity means that all children have an opportunity to survive, develop and reach their full potential, without discrimination, bias or favouritism to the degree that any child has an unequal chance in life.

Context

This UNV assignment is part of UNICEF Iran’s programme initiative on disability inclusion and implementation of global UNICEF Disability Inclusion Policy and Strategy (DIPAS). UNICEF Iran has been working with other UN agencies and government partners, including Ministry of Education, State Welfare Organization and Iranian Red Crescent Society to promote access of children with disabilities to inclusive education and rehabilitation services and also to improve disability inclusion across the UN. The disability inclusion UNV reports to the Education officer/Disability Focal Point. The UNV provides technical, operational and administrative assistance to Education and ADAP section’s work on disability inclusion. The UNV prepares, manages and implements a variety of technical and administrative tasks, related to the implementation on disability inclusion activities and promotion of disability inclusion both externally and internally in UNICEF ICO and across the UN system. Specifically, the UNV’s office-wide responsibility would be to support ICO disability focal point in implementing UNICEF DIPAS (Disability Inclusion Policy and Strategy) across Programme and Operations teams.
