Overview of position

Since the inception of IOM in 1951, Movement Operations have been and continue to be a fundamental pillar of the Organization’s work. The organized movement of persons in need of international migration assistance is a primary mandate of the Organization and a cornerstone of IOM’s operations. This mandate has resulted in the international transport of more than 15 million migrants and refugees worldwide. Movement Operations departments in various IOM missions, coordinated under the division of Resettlement and Movement Management (RMM) in the Department of Operations and Emergencies (DOE) at IOM’s Geneva Headquarters, are responsible for all aspects of travel for migrants and refugees under IOM’s auspices, in accordance with the various framework agreements with resettlement and receiving Governments and partners across the spectrum of the Organization's programmes.

Role objectives

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1.Foster two-way communication between migrants and host communities. The expertise includes organizing community events, facilitating focus group discussions, and coordinating recreational activities to promote integration.

2.Follow up with field teams to ensure the effective dissemination of information and awareness-raising activities. the focus will be on tracking the outreach and successful implementation of these initiatives.

3.Have a strong background in designing and reviewing media content and Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials. She/He will ensure that awareness-raising campaigns meet the specific requirements of each project.

4.Have networking skills and will be instrumental in coordinating and monitoring relevant dissemination activities within target communities. S/he will leverage a robust network of local and international Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and community leaders to achieve this.

5.Commit to providing timely updates and comprehensive reports on field activities as per requirements.

6.Support the PM and Project Officer in building partnerships with local government actors, embassies, UN agencies, and other NGOs operating in the area. This collaboration will help maintain coordination, prevent duplication, and facilitate referrals for support.

7.Prepare media visibility materials, including social media posts, human-interest stories, and quotes from beneficiaries and stakeholders, adhering to IOM and donor agreement standards.

8.Conduct capacity-building and information sessions for the team. This will include training field staff in collecting relevant testimonies and human migrant stories, photography techniques, and the dissemination of awareness guidance.

9.Monitor and enforce gender mainstreaming as a central component of all activities, addressing protection, social, environmental, and other relevant cross-cutting concerns.

10.Collaborate with the Campaigns Assistant; oversee information management for the CE team, monitoring that all related documents are regularly saved on the MRRM SharePoint.

11.Lead the planning and coordination of community events relevant to MRRM activities, ensuring their seamless execution.

12.Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

● Good knowledge of the broad range of migration related issues in Libya

● Creative and solution oriented.
