About the position:
The Senior Director, Web guides both the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of all of the organization’s websites, providing technical, design, analytics, and content oversight. The Senior Director, Web must balance the interests of various internal stakeholders and prioritize projects to achieve key organization objectives and further the mission of Americares. Primary among these objectives is driving new donor acquisition and donations via the website. The position will lead all web development and deployment projects including large-scale website builds, microsites, landing pages, and more.

Key Outcomes:
In the first 90 days, the Senior Director, Web will:
-Learn and live the Americares values.
-Complete all required new hire onboarding training.
-Articulate primary objectives of website and how the website can support Americares mission and organizational strategy.
-Understand the cross-departmental ecosystem in which the Web Team functions and develop a working knowledge of Americares website properties.
-Analyze website key performance metrics and provide initial feedback with rationale on KPIs that should be addressed and areas of the website that need improvement.

In the first 6 months, the Senior Director, Web will:
-Conduct a full assessment of the website, soliciting input from key internal stakeholders.
-Deliver a full summary of findings and recommendations based on best practices.
-Develop tools, policies, standards and procedures to effectively manage planning and implementation of website projects.

In the first year, the Senior Director, Web will:
-Provide a clear strategy and roadmap for website redesign to address current issues, enhance current strengths, improve website performance, and deliver on website objectives.
-Vet and choose a high performing vendor partner to execute website redesign and development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Lead overarching strategic vision for Americares websites (including strategy, project roadmap, business requirements and budget) and execution of all major web projects spanning design, development, implementation, and optimization.
-Create annual website strategic plan in alignment with Development goals and organizational priorities and ensure the effective planning for technology and budget resources to deliver on the annual website plan.
-Develop structured protocol/governance system to ensure all content throughout the website is up-to-date, accurate, consistent with brand/messaging and aligns with best practices for SEO and user discoverability.
-Implement and oversee workflow process for website edits/additions/changes and assume leadership role in managing the work assignments and activities of Web team by defining priorities and assigning appropriate allocation of staff and third-party resources to accomplish specific website initiatives
-Manage day-to-day relationship with external agency partners for site maintenance, specific requests, site initiatives and analytics.
-Use data-driven testing and refinement methods to maximize the effectiveness of Americares primary website to engage, educate and motivate donors to give, providing transparency into the value of their gift and what it does, while continually improving web experience outcomes.
-Use performance tracking and analytics tools to monitor and manage the effectiveness of Americares website against target KPIs, regularly reporting on key metrics and performance measures.
-Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Marketing and Communcations, People and Talent, Programs, etc.) to gather input and understand cross-team needs to inform future website roadmap.
-Analyze global/local website models, listen to global team needs/interests, and determine path forward for website structure with diverse global locations.
-Supervision of two-person web team providing daily technical oversight and problem-solving to ensure that websites are correctly functioning.

These competencies are required for the role:

-Senior level experience overseeing web strategy and implementation at global nonprofit organizations.
-Demonstrated experience in project management and team leadership, producing and developing effective websites, managing multiple concurrent projects, organizing workflow and meeting deadlines.
-Ability to select and effectively manage external web design and development partners
-Competencies in and leadership of DEI and accessibility standards in website design and content.
-Strong understanding of best practices for fundraising optimized websites.
-Proficiency with WordPress and WPCLI.
-Minimum basic coding abilities (HTML, CSS).
-Integration of Google Analytics (GA4) and other web analytics tools to collect, analyze, and inform web strategy and measure success against objectives.
-Expert knowledge of SEO best practices and previous experience producing SEO optimized copy and content.
-Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders with varying degrees of technological skill and knowledge.
-Availability, as necessary, after-hours or weekends to assist the organization’s use of website to mobilize and educate constituents and donors in response to sudden natural disasters or other emergencies.
-Although the role is remote, the position will travel to Stamford, CT office 2-3 times per year.
-US work authorization is required for this role.

These competencies would be great to have, but are not required:
-Fluency in languages that are spoken in at least one of our core locations (India, Philippines, Tanzania, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Colombia, etc.), in addition to English.
-Successful track record overseeing websites at humanitarian organizations that are similar in size and complexity to Americares main website.
-Experience using Crazy Egg, Optinmonster, HotJar, Zapier or other tools.
-Experience working on multi-channel marketing initiatives, preferably in the fundraising space.
