Overview of position

Express of Interest 
Communications Officer / Watch Keeper.

Role objectives

 

  • Liaise and coordinate as necessary with other agencies and organisations

  • Experience with various commercial communications systems including VHF/UHF radio, Satellite telephone systems, VSAT, IT, RF Safety, Electrical safety (PAT), and Track 24 tracking systems.

  • Manage and control all incidents in collaboration with the Manager, ensuring smooth facilitation of teams during deployment.

  • Responsible for managing communications stores, planning radio networks, and practical experience in fault finding.

  • Demonstrate proactive engagement with technical innovations, and adherence to relevant communications standards and best practices.

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical personnel and manage multiple tasks while maintaining clear objectives and focus. 

  • Proven track record of managing communications equipment and personnel in challenging or hazardous environments, and capability to work in arduous conditions for extended periods unsupervised.

Project reporting
  • Coordinate, monitor, and record all communications traffic for mobile security teams during deployments, maintaining an operational log of all movements.

  • Track movements for out-of-area missions and provide timely location updates.

  • Provide teams with relevant reports including route status, SPOTREPS, intelligence updates, significant activities, and areas of avoidance during airport movements.

Key competencies
  • At least 5 years of experience as Communications Officer / Watch Keeper

  • Current and valid C1 Driver’s license.

  • SIA Level 3 licence - Close Protection.

  • FREC 3 or equivalent.   

  • Fluency in English

  • Experience in a high threat environment, an advance would be experience.

  • Capable and safe driver of heavy armoured four-wheel drive vehicles.

  • Basic first line roadside repair.

Team management
  • DV Cleared (advantage) or SC clearance (essential).

  • Must be a British passport holder.
