The Compliance & Operational Risk unit, under the Risk Management Department, is responsible for governance, oversight and credibly challenging compliance and operational risk exposures and risk management practices through monitoring, analysing, and developing standards for remediating risk that arise while maintaining a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency.

The Compliance & Operational Risk Associate will support the Head of Compliance & Operational Risk with identifying existing and future risks across AIIB and optimizing the Compliance & Operational Risk Management Framework. They are expected to work effectively alongside key stakeholders in ensuring the continued robustness of the function

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Support the definition of compliance and operational risk frameworks, methodologies and documentation and oversee implementation.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify, assess, measure, manage and report on compliance and operational risks.
  • Support the capture and management of operational risk events, including the conduct of root cause analysis and lessons learned.
  • Support activities related to crisis management, including the coordination of meetings and oversight of actions as directed.
  • Support the review and validation of compliance and operational risk aspects of outsourcing activities.
  • Increase the effectiveness of Management’s oversight by analysing and reporting compliance and operational risk information.
  • Consult with multilateral and bilateral partners and AIIB Members to improve the compliance and operational risk function of AIIB.
  • Keep abreast of the latest applicable regulatory developments and advise internal stakeholders on their implications and impacts.
  • Work with relevant AIIB departments to promote a strong risk culture through relevant training programs.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • 3- 5 years’ experience in a compliance; operational risk and/or operational resilience function with a multilateral development or financial institution.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills with an ability to interact effectively with stakeholders across the organization, including virtual interactions.
  • A team player able to operate in a diversified and multicultural work environment.
  • Project management skills.
  • Creativity and appetite for continuous improvement.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Bachelor’s university degree (Master’s degree preferred) in law, finance, business, or related fields.
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office and other relevant software including (Tableau, Power BI etc.) including VBA and other programming skills.
