Overview of position
  • CTG supports & manages humanitarian projects in fragile & conflict affected countries around the world. With past performance in 15 countries from the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia & Central & South America, we offer a holistic fabric of project management, implementation & support. Skilled in emergency response to crises such as the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, we have the ability to act quickly (crisis response teams can be on the ground in 24 hours) & to establish structured operations in high risk environments. CTG recruits & manages qualified, skilled teams with extensive experience operating in challenging conditions.

  • The role of the Field Security Officer (FSO) is to implement & manage Duty of Care (DOC) in accordance with CTG's contracts & obligations.

Role objectives
  • Induction training, providing security awareness briefs to all staff.

  • Vetting & status check on all local nationals as required.

  • Review & movement requests & tack staff movements.

  • Maintain & improve a security information network to receive & then send out security advisories, in conjunction with Harts Risk Manager.

  • Provide security advice to projects, staff & consultants.

  • Provide timely threat reporting incident reporting to staff, by sms & email, in conjunction with Harts Risk Manager.

  • Undertake analysis of the security situation in country.

  • Develop & maintain relationships with the clients Security Managers & other security organisations in country.

  • Keep updated contact list / database of staff, consultants & security focal points.

  • Improve & develop an emergency call out procedure for each project so CTG can track & react to incidents.

  • Conduct field work for risk assessments & training of staff & consultant located in different parts of the country.

  • Incident management, fill out incident reports, be on call to deal with emergencies & undertake investigations as directed.

  • Manage visa & work permit applications for international consultants.

  • Prepare all necessary documents to apply for work permit & visa by coordinating with Account Mangers (AM's).

  • Handle all problems which are related to any visa & work permit issues.

  • Other tasks as directed by the CTG Country Director (CD), their deputy or delegate.

Project reporting

This role reports to CTG Global Risk Manager & CTG Country Director.

Key competencies
  • Diploma in security, risk management, or relevant experience with a minimum of 5 years of demonstrable relevant security experience.

  • Minimum of 5 year of experience in Africa (essential).

  • Fluency in English, Arabic & local language(s) are essential.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills & the ability to develop relationships with clients & security contacts.

  • Excellent understanding of local security networks.

  • Knowledge of risk mitigation measures.

  • Strong training skills.

  • Strong administration skills, including competency in MS Office applications.

  • The ability to communicate in written & spoken form clearly & concisely.

  • Ability to stay calm, manage their own stress & manage multiple tasks.

  • Ability to prioritise tasks.

  • Must have storng dedication & flexibility.

  • Experience processing visas & international work permits.

Team management

This role does not have any team management responsibility.
