WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR

The Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) is seeking an astute and driven Country Manager for Bangladesh. In this pivotal role, you will lead initiatives and cultivate collaborative efforts aimed at building resilience and adaptability against the challenges of climate change.

In this capacity, your success will be defined by your ability to craft and implement strategic visions, demonstrate strong leadership and political acumen, and drive sustainable change. Your expertise in these areas will be vital to the success and impact of our initiatives in Bangladesh.

As the Country Manager, reporting directly to the Regional Director, South Asia, you will undertake a range of responsibilities:


Country Leadership and Program Coordination

  • Lead the development and implementation of GCA country strategy 2025-2029 that aligns with GCA's global goals; its regional strategy; and the specific needs of Bangladesh.
  • Collaborate with GCA’s Program Leads and teams, and engage with local partners, including government officials, to ensure the effective execution and success of our initiatives, while effectively tackling any challenges encountered.
  • Represent GCA in national and international forums, showcasing our initiatives and advocating for climate adaptation priorities. Your networking skills and ability to articulate GCA's work will be instrumental in elevating our presence and impact.
  • Lead in the official accreditation of GCA in Bangladesh working closely with government counterparts to facilitate this development.
  • Oversee and ensure adherence to government regulations and standards in the implementation of the Bangladesh Work Program.

Resource Mobilization and Partnerships:

  • Champion local resource mobilization efforts in collaboration with the Director of Development, securing sustainable funding and managing the country office budget with an eye for compliance and efficiency.
  • Manage a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation framework that aligns with GCA's overarching M&E guidelines. This role involves tracking the progress and impact of initiatives to maintain transparency and ensure accountability to donors and stakeholders.
  • Work in partnership with the GCA Director of Development to create and deliver progress reports to donors.
  • Grow our network of partnerships at national, regional, and global levels, enhancing GCA’s reach and influence.

Office Management:

  • Oversee the general management of the GCA office in Bangladesh, including facility and administrative management to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Facilitate support for high-level missions, including CEO and Program staff engagements, and oversee the orchestration of GCA events.
