Expected duration
This internship is for a period of three months, from 29 April to 19 July 2024. An extension of a maximum of three months may be possible.
Duties and Responsibilities
The intern position is located in the Language Training Programme (LTP), Centre for Learning and Multilingualism (CLM), Human Resources Management Service in United Nations Office in Geneva (UNOG). The Language Training Programme (LTP) promotes linguistic balance and multilingualism within the Secretariat and improves the language abilities of staff, as mandated by the General Assembly in its resolutions 2480 B (XXIII), 43/224D and 50/11. In this regard the LTP offers language courses in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish to staff members of the United Nations Secretariat and related agencies; and diplomats and staff from the country missions to the United Nations. In a continued effort to improve and optimize the learning experience of our clients, the intern will support the teachers in - designing and developing multimedia content, such as video, audio, graphics, images, etc. - developing and updating learning materials, resources and online activities using the CLM Language Learning Platform (Moodle LMS); - working on other ongoing projects. They will also assist the administration in organising events, improving the communications strategy and monitoring the Tandem service. The incumbent reports to the Head of the Language Training Programme.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme. Do you meet any of the above criteria? If yes, please indicate which one and attach proof to the application. Please note that you will have to provide an official certificate at a later stage. Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams. Experience in the use of learning management systems (LMS) is desirable. Experience in design and use of design tools (Canva, Genially, Rise 360,...) is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in one of the working languages is essential. Mastery of another UN official language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish) is desirable.
