Driver cum Field Technician - BISA

The Borlaug Institute for South Asia (BISA) is a non-profit international research institute dedicated to food, nutrition, and livelihood security as well as environmental rehabilitation in South Asia, which is home to more than 300 million undernourished people. We are seeking dynamic, innovative, self-motivated, and service-oriented professional for the position of Driver cum Field Technician.

The position will be based in Jabalpur.

The main responsibilities of this position will be:

·         Manage and maintain seed processing plant on daily basis to keep it in good running condition. Help maintain duty rooster for labor, implement usage and work accomplished.

·         Help maintain and operate a good store for daily use and safety of the farm produce. Supervise the labor operations together with the field functionaries in peak season.

·         Drive official vehicles when needed. Maintain and provide to accountant an updated records of the vehicle logbooks including the fuel usage and personal use of vehicle. Manage farm labor, farm security and field management. Any other duties as assigned from time to time.

·         Process seed of different crops produced at BISA Jabalpur Keep the record of processing activities on daily basis.

·         Maintain purity during processing and storage as per standard of seed certification agency.

·         Manage and maintain seed processing plant on daily basis to keep it in good running condition.

·         Help maintain duty rooster for labor, implement usage and work accomplished.

·         Help maintain and operate a good store for daily use and safety of the farm produce.

·         Supervise the labor operations together with the field functionaries in peak season.

·         Maintain and provide to Farm operation assistant an updated records of the vehicle logbooks including the fuel usage and personal use of vehicle in coordination with users.

·         Manage farm labor, farm security and field management.

Perform other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned and delegated by the supervisor.

We are seeking candidates with the following academic qualifications, experience, skills, and attitudes:

·         At least higher secondary pass or ITI with mechanical stream.

·         Valid driving license to drive a car. Experience of driving an official car in any public or private organization.

·         Fluent in English and at least a regional language.

·         3 yrs of working experience in agricultural sector.

·         Must possess institutional competencies like, teamwork, communication, critical thinking, client orientation.

The position is for an initial fixed-term contract of 1 year with annual renewal subject to performance. Thereafter, the contract would be renewed based on overall performance and the continued availability of funds.
