About SAATHII: SAATHII, a registered non-profit organization, was founded with a vision to stabilize and reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS in India. Over the years its mission has expanded to strengthen and scale up access to stigma-free healthcare, social protection and legal services for communities affected by HIV, TB, COVID, viral hepatitis and other conditions, as well as those marginalized on account of gender, sexuality, incarcerated status and other factors. SAATHII is headquartered in Chennai, with 11 other offices across the country.

Background of the Project: As a Principal Recipient (PR) for The Global Fund grant, SAATHII supports the national HIV program in four thematic areas, (a) the elimination of the vertical transmission of HIV and syphilis (EVTHS), (b) expanding access to diagnosis and treatment for HIV, TB, and STIs for incarcerated populations and (c) training for NACP service providers in HIV and STI prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care programs (d) enhancing the resilience of key populations affected by COVID-19 by increasing access to and uptake of social protection, and strengthening the capabilities of community-based organizations to advocate for their rights and entitlements.

SAATHII plans to conduct assessments of specific components of the interventions implemented in these four thematic areas. These assessments will be guided by areas identified for improvement through existing program monitoring data, and employ both quantitative and qualitative methods, including the analysis of programmatic data and primary data collection. In addition, best practices identified through the assessments will be documented for dissemination and replication.

Position Overview:

SAATHII is seeking a skilled and experienced Qualitative Research Consultant to assist in conducting assessments within the thematic intervention areas. This role involves actively contributing to qualitative components, including data collection, analysis, and documentation processes.

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage documentation pertaining to qualitative data collected by field investigators/program staff.
• Conduct in-depth analysis of qualitative data, encompassing code book development, data coding, and the identification and refinement of key themes.
• Write comprehensive reports outlining the findings and insights derived from qualitative data analysis.
• Provide supervision and support for data collection, as needed, ensuring quality and consistency.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Proven experience in qualitative research methodologies, preferably in public health or related fields.
• Proficiency in analyzing qualitative data and interpreting findings.
• Proficiency in using qualitative data analysis software, such as NVivo or Atlas.ti.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Prior experience in HIV/STI/SRHR or related public health programs is advantageous.

Desired Competencies:

• Strong analytical skills.
• Proven ability to manage deadlines and deliver high-quality documentation within specified timeframes.
• Cultural sensitivity and ability to navigate diverse cultural contexts, especially when engaging with marginalized or key populations.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Consultancy Period: Three months, starting immediately (January – March 2024)
