The Australia-Pacific Partnerships Platform (The Partnerships Platform) is looking for motivated and skilled professionals who are keen to make a difference. We seek passionate staff who work collaboratively to deliver ideas and advice that can help our Pacific Island Country partners meet their governance and stability goals. The Partnerships Platform is seeking an experienced and motivated Finance and Operations Manager with a proven track record in financial management, operational processes and systems development who can lead a team of independent and remote workers. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, respectful, flexible, and resilient Finance and Operations Manager with a keen focus on demonstrating strong organisational skills including planning, developing, implementing, and maintaining financial and operational systems. 

Reporting to the Deputy Team leader, the areas of focus of the position are: 

  • Provide line management to the Operations team and their functions, including performance management, coaching, mentoring and professional development. 
  • Lead the development of the Partnerships Platform Management Information Systems, including dashboard reporting, human resources and operational tools.   
  • Responsibility for the development and documentation of the Partnerships Platform’s operational systems, including procurement, risk, compliance with DFAT and DT Global Policy, recruitment, deployment, and finance. This includes being the owner of the Operations Manual and ensuring it is continuously improved.  
  • Responsibility for the Partnerships Platform’s Financial Management Systems and all financial management tasks, including budget development; financial planning and forecasting; and cash-flow management. 
  • Manage program expenditure of Platform activities according to DT Global’s requirements, including overseeing the Finance Officer to records all approvals and required documentation, enter data in MYOB and undertake monthly reconciliation of the Platform bank account. 
  • Deliver timely, relevant and high-quality monthly and quarterly financial reports for DFAT and DT Global. 
  • In conjunction with DT Global’s Melbourne based team, contribute to the process for Service Order amendments.  
  • Work with the Team Leader, Deputy Team Leader and MERL Manager as part of the Platform management team on high-level issues. 

The position is offered as a 18-month contract with the possibility of extension. This is a remote, work from home position, with access to office space in some locations including Suva, Port Moresby, Canberra, Melbourne and Brisbane. Flexibility of hours will be considered. About You 

We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate a high degree of flexibility, respect, resilience and adaptability, and a preparedness to work with limited resources in a challenging environment, this includes the ability to successfully build and manage relationships with a broad range of stakeholders. 

To be successful in this role, you will have tertiary qualifications Tertiary qualification in a relevant field. Financial management or accounting qualifications will be an advantage, at least 10 years’ experience working in a similar leadership role, preferably in an international development context.  

You will be required to demonstrate a strong understanding of, and commitment to Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), child protection and the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH), anti-corruption and other DFAT safeguarding policies.
