Current open Director Vacancies at WHO:

 

Principal Legal Officer (P6) - closing 15th August

Location: Geneva

The Principal Legal Officer will lead and coordinate the Corporate and Contractual Matters (CCM) unit within the Office of the Legal Counsel and to provide legal advice and services, in particular in respect of: corporate and contractual matters; general protection of the Organization's interests; and any other function as may be required by the exigencies of the work of the Office of the Legal Counsel.

 

Director Evaluation (D2) - closing 19th August 

Location: Geneva

The Director Evaluation will lead the Evaluation Office (EVL) and provide high level strategic guidance on evaluation and organizational learning, in order to further strengthen organizational performance, accountability and institutional learning. The mission of EVL is to contribute to establishing a culture of evaluation at all levels of the Organization, so that evaluation plays a critical role in WHO in improving performance, increasing accountability for results, and promoting organizational learning. 

 

Regional Emergency Director - closing 22nd August

Location: Copenhagen

The regional emergency Director will direct WHO's Health Emergency Programme in all areas of its work at the regional level. The Regional Emergency Director (RED) will be responsible for ensuring strong WHO management, coordination and leadership of the health response during outbreaks and health emergencies, including acute humanitarian crises, disasters and protracted emergencies. The Regional Emergency Director will also be responsible for ensuring that an effective agenda of Member States preparedness and WHO readiness is implemented across the Region.

 

Director, Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases - closing 25th August

Location: Geneva

The Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR) is co-sponsored by UNICEF, UNDP, the World Bank and WHO. TDR is a partnership programme with its own governing bodies and which is administratively hosted by WHO and operates under the legal auspices of WHO.

The Director of TDR plays a leadership and reference role among its co-sponsors, multilateral agencies, partners and other stakeholders in integrating research on infectious diseases of poverty into the international development agenda. This is achieved through the coordination and promotion of relevant research, the development of evidence-based best practices and the provision of technical support to countries wishing to strengthen their research capabilities, leadership, policies and programmes and the quality and reach of their services in the area of infectious diseases of poverty. This in turn requires providing vision and overall strategic, scientific and operational direction to the Special Programme.
