From a National to an International career: what you need to know!

When you decide that it is time for you to grow professionally as a national officer working in an international organization, there are a number of factors you need to take into consideration in order to make that move.  

 

I was there before, and I know the difference between thinking about it and concretely doing it. I was then a national officer, very successful and well respected in my profession. After 8 years of professional growth, I felt I was plateauing, and it was time for me to think about moving to the next level. I reached the highest level of what a national staff could have in my organization. My purpose was to become an HR Manager with more responsibilities. I knew I was longing for change and this change meant applying for an international position. It meant leaving my hometown, my family, my friends and my well-established position. The stake was high, and I wanted it to happen smoothly. It took me more than one year.
