Do you dream of working as a Child Protection Officer?
In this article, we give you insight into what you need to make your profile competitive for a future career in a Child Protection role.
Child protection refers to the protection of children from violence, exploitation, abuse, and neglect.
Article 19 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) says that if someone uses violence against a child or young person, it's never acceptable or justifiable. It should be possible for the child to report a violent act in a safe and confidential way, and reports made by young people should be investigated by the authorities.
Child Protection is an internally transferable skill, meaning that most subject matter experts that these organizations are looking for are already working with children in an organization or in a public sector context.
A common educational background among Child Protection workers is to have expertise in Human Rights, Civil Affairs, Political Affairs, International Relations, international law, and the promotion and protection of the rights of the child.
