What was your background (prior to joining AIIB)?
I worked as a cybersecurity specialist at the largest local cybersecurity company, Venus Tech, where AIIB was an important client. I also worked at HP for several years and obtained my master’s degree in cybersecurity in the United Kingdom. These experiences gave me a solid foundation in both technology and the industry, and have been helpful in my work at AIIB.
How did you find out about AIIB? What motivated you to apply?
I had the opportunity to learn about AIIB in my previous job and found that the organization is different from others. AIIB is committed to promoting infrastructure development and driving economic growth. I was drawn to this grand vision. As a newly established institution, AIIB has many opportunities for experimentation and development. Unlike other companies where I could only be responsible for a specific aspect of security, at AIIB I can work on various aspects of security and choose the direction that interests me. I can also participate in a large project from scratch to completion. All these attracted me to this place filled with opportunities and challenges.
Describe your typical workday. What project(s)/task(s) are you working on? How do you collaborate with teammates or other departments?
My typical workday is fulfilling and interesting! I am responsible for evaluating system and digital environment security to ensure that our information is not threatened by any potential threats. I also need to work closely with my team members and colleagues from other departments to ensure that all security issues are addressed in a timely manner. In this dynamic team, every day is a new challenge and opportunity!
What skill sets are most valuable at your current work? Any tips you can share with potential applicants who are considering joining AIIB?
In my work, expertise and skills in cybersecurity are very important, but at the same time, teamwork and communication skills are also essential in order to better understand the security needs of other teams, coordinate and handle potential security issues. In addition to continuously improving one's professional skills, I also suggest that those who are considering joining AIIB should be bold in expressing their ideas. AIIB is a very inclusive and forward-thinking place, and as long as the idea has value, you will receive the support and valuable advice of your colleagues!
How would you describe your life in Beijing (challenges, interesting finds, cultural experiences, food, misconceptions, etc.)?
Life in Beijing is very colorful! I love Beijing’s culture and heritage. Every visit allows me to experience the city’s unique charm. There are many beautiful scenic spots in the suburbs and I often invite friends to go camping on weekends. The food in Beijing is very rich—from small street vendors to high-end restaurants, I can always taste a variety of delicious dishes. Of course, Beijing also faces challenges, such as air quality issues, but this does not affect my love for this city. I believe that Beijing will continue to work hard to improve these issues and provide a better quality of life and cultural experiences that allow us to enjoy this city even more.
