Since 1985 the UN General Assembly commemorated today, the 5th of December as an international observance providing an opportunity for governments, volunteer involving organizations such as UNV and individual volunteers to promote and recognize volunteerism at all levels supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
UNV does a great job in highlighting the impact that volunteers make both formally and informally. Today is a day to celebrate yourself for volunteering no matter the scope, formally or informally.
This year’s International Volunteer Day theme is “Volunteer for an inclusive future” highlighting SDG 10 - Reduced Inequality.
