Safeguarding officers have become a new trend in hires from many International Organizations. 

Lately, child centric and immigration organizations have taken the recruitment of safeguarding officers very important. Many of you might have heard about the scandal with Oxfam, or the story of Anders Kompass which has led to many investigations within International Organizations as the discourse on development worker intentions rise. SOS Children’s Villages has recently started The Independent Special Commission (ISC) last October 2021. The ISC investigates and analyses the most serious allegations of abuse, failures and other wrongdoing arising from the work of SOS Children’s Villages worldwide (including child abuse, gender-based violence, including sexual exploitation and abuse, physical harm, safeguarding failures, retaliation and serious financial wrongdoing), including the conduct of SOS Children's Villages safeguarding investigation and oversight functions. This is not the only International Organization that has started putting measures in place.
