The Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF) is an international organisation with 62 member states. DCAF helps its partners achieve good governance of the security sector, adjust legal frameworks and develop institutions and practices. DCAF is known for its ability to implement projects in complex and dynamic environments. DCAF works with governments, parliaments, security and justice providers, international organisations, civil society and media to assist the development of transparent and accountable governance of the security sector**.**

In order to cover its current and future recruitment needs, DCAF’s Middle East and North Africa Division (OPMENA)has established a permanent recruitment pool. For its headquarters in Geneva and its various field-offices in the MENA region, DCAF seeks to recruitexperienced mid-senior level professionals interested in the position of Programme Managers/Coordinators

Responsibilities:

  • Implementation of the MENA Division’s strategy in the Middle East and North Africa
  • Analysis of institutional and contextual factors
  • Contribution to strategy development and conceptual work of the division
  • Project management and quality control (planning, execution and reporting)
  • Exchange of information between the various offices across the region
  • Managing relations with donors.

Minimum standards for consideration include:

  • Professional experience in project management (minimum 3-5 years), in the field of governance, security and/or international development assistance.
  • An advanced university degree in development, security, international relations, business management or public administration or another relevant subject area.
  • Excellent command of English (both written and spoken) – good knowledge of French and/or Arabic or any other European or Middle Eastern language is an asset
  • Professional interest in the Middle East or North Africa
  • Knowledge of security sector governance and/or other governance and reform processes
  • High flexibility, including availability for frequent missions abroad and/or for international postings
  • Non EU-nationals must be in possession of a valid work permit for Switzerland

Duty Stations: Geneva or Field Office (Tunis, Beirut, Ramallah, Tripoli)

Duration:12 months, with the possibility of extension
