Functional Responsibilities

The driver will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Support Services Officer at UNMAS Palestine Programme, to handle the following duties and responsibilities:

Summary of Key Functions: A. Provide reliable and secure driving services:

  • Drive office vehicles for the transport of UNMAS staff, consultants, and other visitors in the Gaza Strip Area of Operations.

  • Provide logistical support as needed during field missions.

B. Ensure Proper Use of Vehicle

  • Maintain accurate vehicle logs, documenting all trips, gasoline fill-ups, maintenance, and other expenses.

  • Provide inputs for preparing the vehicle maintenance plans and reports

C.  Ensure the Day-to-Day Maintenance of the assigned vehicle (s)

  • Conduct daily maintenance checks on vehicles. Report any issues or repairs needed promptly. 

  • Ensure vehicles are kept clean and in good running condition at all times.

  • Check oil, water, battery, brakes, tires etc.

  • Perform minor repairs and make arrangements for major repairs.

D. In close coordination with the Senior Support Services Officer, the Driver is responsible for following up on both regular and ad-hoc maintenance of the vehicles, ensuring they are always in optimal condition for safe operation.
E. Be prepared to respond to emergency situations or incidents, including conflict-related emergencies.

F.  Ensure that immediate steps as required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent with three years of relevant experience. 

Experience

  • Relevant experience is defined as experience in  driving experience is required

  • Ability for commercial driving with manual and automatic transmission is required

  • Skills in vehicle maintenance/minor vehicle repairs are desirable

  • Additional related experience or proof of undertaken trainings will be considered as an asset

  • Previous working experience in the UN or other international organization/project is an asset

Driving license 

  • Valid Commercial Driving License is required

Language

  • Fluency in Arabic is required

  • Basic knowledge of English is required
