The International Potato Center (CIP) is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Regional Director for Latin America and Country Representative for Peru.

The position: This position plays a dual role as Country Representative for Peru and Regional Director for Latin America, with the goal to safeguard and further develop CIP’s essential relationship with the Government of Peru and other Peruvian partners and stakeholders while growing CIP’s science and innovation portfolio in Latin America. As Country Representative, the position leads CIP’s country implementation plans for Peru in support of the CIP2030 strategic goals and in accordance with CIP’s Headquarter Agreement in Peru. As Regional Director for Latin America, the position is responsible for government, partner and funder relations and represents CIP with these stakeholders in the region. The Regional Director directs and supports Country Managers and ensures organizational growth in the region through technically and financially sound programming and equitable partnerships. The successful candidate will report to the Director General and will be based in Lima, Peru.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Planning, Partnerships, and Representation:

o Lead the development and oversee delivery of implementation plans and other strategic

mechanisms for the implementation of the CIP2030 Strategy in Peru and the Latin America region. o Represent CIP with the Government of Peru and other Peruvian partners and stakeholders in close coordinationwiththeDirectorGeneral andtheDeputyDirectorGeneralandinaccordancewithCIP’s

Headquarter Agreement in Peru.

o Model and practice CIP’s commitment to Equitable Partnerships with stakeholders in Peru and the region, establishing and nurturing strategic partnerships with governments, funders and other key constituencies through regular interactions and participation in policy and technical forums. o Direct and support Country Managers in LAC to develop and manage productive relationships with stakeholders at country level.

o Contribute to the evolution of CGIAR strategies and partnerships in Peru and the region.

• Resource Mobilization and Programming:

CIP2030 strategic goals and the evolving priorities of national and regional constituencies.

o Maintain a high level of understanding of funder priorities relevant to CIP.

o Working closely with CIP Science Leaders and the Resource Mobilization team, the position will oversee the development of innovative programs in response to these priorities.

• CIP Operations in the Region:

Headquarters operations in close coordination with the Director General and representing the

Director General during times when the Director General is on duty travel.

o The position will work closely with senior operations staff including in the Departments of People & Culture, Finance, Grants and Contracts, Legal Services, and Administration to ensure the

1 implementation and monitoring of financial and operational policies and procedures at country and regional level.

o Thepositionwillbeaccountableforcomplianceaccordingtoexternalagreementsandthedelegation

of authority assigned to this position.

• Safety, Security and Risk Management:

o Oversee the implementation of the regional security guidelines and security management plan. o Implement CIP’s Health & Safety policy at regional level and ensure compliance at country level. • People Management:

o ContributetoandmodelCIP’scommitmenttorecruit,manageanddevelophighperformingregional

and country-based staff.

o Foster a positive work environment for all staff across the region.

o Manage and mentor Country Managers to ensure effective talent management processes,

contribute to their performance reviews, and identify succession and staff development plans. What are we looking for?

• Advanced degree (PhD or Master) in a Science or Management discipline.

• At least 10 years of progressive international experience in similar research and/or development organizations.

• Significant leadership experience in an equivalent position in a development or international organization. • Strong experience of institutional representation with Government, national stakeholders, and the international community in Peru.

• Strong track record of establishing and managing productive strategic partnerships with funders, governments, international organizations, and the research community at regional level in Latin America. • Strong knowledge and experience of management practices to enable the creation of appropriate country and regional implementation plans and mechanisms.

• Budget management and IT literate (Microsoft and ERP software).

• Leadership competencies:

o Focus on big picture and strategic vision.

o Building and maintaining partnerships and relationships.

o Planning and managing staff to achieved quality results.

o Influencing and resolving differences across boundaries.

o Leading by example

• Outstanding written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish.
